Real information for two different kinds of people: homeowners who want to understand their own septic system, and anyone working toward a career as a licensed Florida septic contractor.

For Homeowners: DIY Septic Guidance

Not everything on your septic system requires a service call. Basic maintenance — knowing what not to flush, spacing out laundry and water use, keeping vehicles and tree roots off the drain field, and tracking your last pump-out date — is well within reach for most homeowners.

Anything involving opening the tank, working on the drain field, or pulling a permit needs a licensed professional. We’ll help you tell the difference before you spend money you didn’t need to.

See the full DIY Septic Guidance page for what you can safely handle yourself and what to leave to a professional.

For Aspiring Contractors: Florida Septic Contractor License Prep

Thinking about becoming a registered septic tank contractor in Florida? Under Florida Statute 489.553, the state requires applicants to be at least 18 years old, complete at least three years of active experience as a skilled worker under the supervision of a registered septic tank contractor or plumbing contractor, and pass the Florida Department of Health exam covering state law on the installation and maintenance of onsite sewage treatment systems.

We help people who are working toward that license get ready for it — breaking down what the exam actually covers, explaining the state codes in plain language, and answering the field questions that don’t show up in a textbook. If you’re apprenticing under a registered contractor and want a second source to help the material click, this is what that support looks like.

Schedule a consultation to talk through where you are in the process and what kind of prep support makes sense for you.
